I'm planning to have a proper tire balancer within the next few weeks. And a tire machine. I ordered one a few weeks back, but my order got screwed up, then I spent the money on something else (motorcycle). I have enough tire jobs lined up now to make it worth considering ordering again. Problem is, I change them so quickly with tire irons, it's hard to justify a machine.

I actually just "graduated" to my own home built wheel balancer. The jack stand method worked fine for my dual sport and other bikes that can't really get into the triple digits. I built my balancer out of some 2x4s and some sliding door bearings. It is definitely more accurate than the jack stand method.

My buddy picked up a shinko for 60 bucks new and installed I think. I know its an offbrand, but he seems to like it.

Right now I have Conti Road Attacks. Pretty sticky tire, mileage could be better, Very affordable, best looking tire IMO. If you want something a little stickier you could get the Sport Attack. My next tire is going to be the Dunlop Roadsmarts. I have a good deal lined up on a set and have to give them a shot after all the rave I have heard.

I ran a Shinko Raven 009 rear on my KTM and I had no problems with it at all. I ran with my buddy with the 1098 on it all day long and was right with him. No strips on the tire either, I got it WAY over all day long. I had read stories about them too but I got the tire for $50 new and shipped so I figured why not see for myself if they are good or not.

I want the Dual compound PP's nest . I too always get the flat spots . Not as big as when I first bought my bike and only went straight,but you still get them.

I had a Dunlop on the rear once. It seemed to last 3 months before it was toast! I never look at the mileage.

My buddy rides a 1000rr and likes the shinkos as well.

I just really like my pilot power. Even though I bitch every year when I need a new one, but thankfully getting alot of miles outta this set rightn ow.
