The Winter blues - looking forward

Feb 24 2013 01:27 AM | DarkStarr in Announcements

This February has been a tease, for sure. Warm weather, rainy days, cold weather, snow, sleet, 80 degrees, black ice, and then snow again. Some riders mustered up the courage to go for a spin, while the rest of us wait patiently for better road conditions. Either way, we're ready for Spring!

WesternPARiders.com and WPAR MC have exciting plans this season. We will be hosting rides and social events, and attending local motorcycle rallies - all while promoting our rebranding. We are currently researching a new online forum theme, and will incorporate all designs into shirts and other swag for our members.

Why rebrand? Our group has undergone a lot of changes since the start. We have seen member numbers and activity fluctuate, eventually leading to an unofficial disbanding. The group was held together online via Facebook, while being rebuilt from the ground up. With this, we aim to solve an issue where we had too many members for our own good. This time, we are focusing on on quality members, having quality rides, and establishing long-lasting relationships. Our online community will continue to be open for everyone, but the exclusivity of the club will help further develop those relationships. We are a brotherhood.

In an effort to better serve the rider, WPAR will be looking to partner with other local riding groups and clubs. This is to offer a better local resource to our riding community. Our long term goal is to partner with local dealers or shops, forming a mutual relationship that our members can benefit from.

One of our biggest challenges in the past, and most certainly to remain in the future, is social media. WPAR has made every attempt to incorporate these new technologies into our traditional format, offering the best possible online experience. This allows for us to reach all riders, no matter their preferred format... and as the technology continues to develop, so will we.

Our goal is to meet the current needs and desires of our customers, our members - and we are committed to leading the industry as it evolves. We want to revolutionize the online motorcycling experience, and we cannot do it without our members. We are dedicated to this, to you, and to the motorcycle rider, but we will demand the same in return. We cannot do this without you.

2013: A new year, and a new beginning

Jan 16 2013 01:50 AM | DarkStarr in Announcements

Riders,

As you all know, WesternPARiders.com had been shut down for the 2012 year.  During our downtime, we have been restructuring our community from the ground up.  It has taken some time, and I appreciate you all for understanding the move.  It may not yet look like many improvements have been made, but rest assured that a lot of time and thought have gone into the new format.

To keep it simple, there are now going to be two entities coinciding within the Western PA Riders community.

Our original online community will be found here at WesternPARiders.com, and will be an "open enrollment" model in which anyone may join.  Users will be granted access to our public forums to discuss the lifestyle which we all enjoy.  These members will be identified as "Hang Around"'s on the forum.  These members are permitted to participate in open events and other open promotional activities, but may be limited in membership benefits dependent on future website subscription models.

"Western PA Riders Motorcycle Club" (WPAR MC) will be integrated with and operate within the online community.  This group will consist of members from WesternPARiders.com and will be an exclusive "invitation only" group.  These members will be identified as "Patch Holder" online, and reap full membership benefits.  These members will pay annual dues, and are permitted to attend all official club events.  Patch Holders will also benefit from exclusive club partnerships and promotions.

Both groups will be integrated within the online community, and Patch Holders will have access to private club forums and pages.  The club's chain of command will be applicable to the general forum operation.

Our membership roster has been purged of all inactive members, and those left will have 90 days to re-activate their accounts.  Anyone whose account was inadvertently purged may contact the club to have their account reinstated.   Our core membership will then receive invitations into WPAR MC, at which point club operations will begin.  During this time, I will continue to work on an exclusive web presence for WPAR MC.

At this point, forum registration is closed until the end of this initial 90 day period.

Please familiarize yourselves with all official club resources at the right of this post.  It is going to require a group effort to get us off the ground.

I look forward to seeing each and every one of you this next riding season.

Regards,
Ryan Cobern
